About the film

Early in the summer of 2016 a group of friends decided that instead of booking a big crew climbing trip, we’d build a boulder and plonk it somewhere in the local woods – Our own home made cragg! This film is a little documentary of how it all came together. Screened at Kendal Mountain Festival (UK) Flagstaff Mountain Festival (US) Maine Outdoor Film Festival (US) Mountain Film Fest (CA) and the Irish Adventure Film Festival (IE)

Monty

Monty was both project manager and team mascot. When work was too hard he’d always remind us that sometimes you’ve just got to take a moment out, and throw the ball. A wise old dude with a super chilled attitude to everything. Monty had since moved down to Somerset to keep an eye on Dan & Hutch

Phil

Phil is the initial project lead for The Boulder Project. A creative-designer-film-maker hybrid kinda guy with a camera in one hand, laptop in the other and head always in the clouds. Phil has since launched a new project called the Set-board and you can follow what he’s up to here:

A final word from the film maker…

Its taken a few years to pull this all together and finally put the film out. I feel really proud watching back today and it still inspires me how much a group of friends can achieve when everyone works towards a shared goal.

This film is only a tiny snapshot of the actual experience and every moment of our shared studio / workshop are among the best memories I have! A really inspirational group of friends, everyone on their own journey and I feel really privileged to have been the guy holding the camera when all their paths crossed. This film for me, if nothing else; is a personal record of the chance aligning of some of the brightest stars I’ve ever met!
